Fasteners for Wood Construction PT 2

This course is designed to provide Professional Engineers with a continued understanding of other types of fasteners, such as tapping and lag screws, by discussing withdrawal loads and resistance, shank diameters, test loads, and lateral strength. The course will detail bolts used for structural and tension connections, the bearing stresses, and the spacing recommendations for various situations. Section 3 will discuss how connectors increase joint bearing and shear areas by utilizing split rings, shear plates, truss plates and joist hangers to join members together and will explain the proper placement for multiple connectors.
